Another quick note is that red outlined pictures is a referral for HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
With that out the way, I will now give my recommendations to those of you who are wondering what levels you should start kill these at:
- 70+ Attack (if using melee)
- 70+ Strength (if using melee)
- 70+ Defence
- 65+ Ranged
- 70+ Constitution
- 95+ Prayer (if using Soul Split)
Okay, so to kick this guide off I will just add that you can not go near these guys without having a nose peg, to refresh your memory of what a nose peg looks like and how much they are, I have added a picture below this text.
Aberrant Spectre require 60 slayer to be able to inflict any damage onto them. They are also a common task, so if you really cant stand them, then you should probably just add the to the 'permanent cancel task' list.
So if you have pass the meetings of slayer requirements, then we can move on to another situation, Equipment! Okay so the Evolution Of Combat brought with it some key essentials that one (you) must know in order to effectively use combat, they introduced new weaknesses for monsters, however these are not the only effective way to kill a monster, there will be a chance to see this theory in practical later on in the guide. As a FYI the weakness for Aberrant Spectres is Thrown.
Next will be the Inventory & Summoning familiar set up, now this is probably one of the most important stages when deciding what you are going to be killing, any item spaces should be strategical, and not because you have nothing to fill them with and you'r to lazy to stop by the Grand Exchange. I will show two set up's that are effective against these monsters, as I often say; you DO NOT have to exactly stick to what i recommend, however those items outlined in RED are highly recommended!
The first method shown is a power-killing inventory set-up, and is aimed at getting more kills per hour rather than 'camping' the monster in order to gain money/rares. This option is often more common nowadays, and is a lot faster that efficiency. This method also includes pack yak scrolls, meaning that the player is able to bank items, leading to profit as well as longer trips, as the player does not have to bank to store the profitable drops that he/she receives.
The second method to killing these is based at a lower budget, making this a total profit gain for those who choose this method, however this method will also be the least effective, although you can alter the equipment to suite yourself, the foundries of this method are based on a lower income rate.
Lastly, there is a total prayer and profit gain, this method is focused on using prayer and melee, however it also adds a hints of profit to the situation, pack scrolls are once again used to bank any herbs/seeds/rare drops table items that the player receives during the task, meaning less bank trips!
So the equipment i have set up in the below picture is aimed at lower levels, noting as always that equipment can be altered to fit your own characters levels and comfort ability. Aberrant Spectres use magic attacks, making is obvious that magic defence is needed, however many player who have low defence commonly need prayer protection to save their life, so a prayer bonus and magic defence layout is in need for this. Please note that sagaie's are not included into the ammunition effect that the Ava's devices offer, however the devices do give a hand ranged bonus!
Dual Dragon Darts would probably be most effective on this slayer task, but that would also make this task extremely expensive and in order to kill 183 or so Aberrant Spectres with Dragon Darts would make it a mortgage decision (;
Aberrant Spectres are also an undead creature, making the Salve Amulet(e) a great item to have on you when killing these monsters as it increases the players Attack & Strength by 20% when killing undead. The amulet can be obtained from 'The Lair Of Tarn Razorlor miniquest'.
Next is the medium level set-up, this is devised to characters that have medium stats, not characters who are genuinely poorer and classed as lower level because of their wealth. The secondary can be switched for rune darts/throwing axe, but as many people do not wish to fork out extra money for slight damage boosts, it is uncommon, none the less I would still recommend some sort of secondary! This set up also includes a cannon setup, so prayer is key for this method as you will still need to restore your health in some way. (presuming that you are on curses.)
Finally it is the higher level prayer set up, as melee bonus is not needed at such a monster as the defence of the Spectre is poor compared to the average weapon that is used for level 140's+. By no means do you have to have drygores to kill Aberrant Spectres, however if you have the spare money then one' (you) should feel free to use anything you want, as always you can alter any of the items that i have equipped and recommend in these guides.
Please note the prayer bonus in both these images as it makes an insane difference to the final result of how long you can last and how many kills you can average per trip. If you have chosen the prayer route, then you will need to know a few tips & tricks, firstly DO NOT leave Soul Split on through out the whole fight, nor do you leave it on whilst full constitution, this is an utter waste of prayer points and will make the trip less effective. The prayer book that I would recommend is Curses, this is because if you do not have a life steal aura, then Soul Split is a great little prayer to flick when running low on constitution.
You will not need any abilities for this monster as monumentum works well enough against this monster when using both melee and ranged, making this task a semi-relax able task. (:
So hopefully you decided on one of the three methods that I supplied in this guide, below is a quick practical on how the outcome of two of these methods should come out, and with that said, GOOD LUCK MONSTER HUNTING!
