Please note that the RED OUTLINE is a refferal of HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Also, I will only be using one method shown in this guide, simply because I have only ever used this method and any other way is not as much of a gain, where as this method is decent enough to last a whole trip. This does not mean that you HAVE to stick to the equipment that I show, I only recommend items, this does not mean that I am forcing you to wear the equipment or take the items in anyway.
Now for the requirements for this monster:
- 70+ Magic
- 75+ Defence
- 70+ Constitution
- 88+ Slayer
- 92+ Summoning (If choosing to use a wolpertinger)
- 95+ Prayer
- 80+ Dungeoneering
Now into the details! Grifolapine indeed have a weakness, this weakness is 'Water Spells' meaning that the most damage that the player can deal, is through magic. Because of this weakness, I have chosen both a magic offence as well as a magic defence, this is because Grifolapine also attack with mostly magic, as well as being weak towards magic, so in theory, they are a danger to themselves (pun), but they also have a ranged attack, now this can be pretty annoying, as they can hit a hefty amount when they want to, making it a constant 'eyes glued to screen' monster.
Now, because they're weakness is magic, I have decided to base this on two things, the first is that if you don't have 85 magic for water surge, then there is another option, and this option is using the infamous poly pore staff to slay down these beasts! The poly pore staff was generally used to kill all the monsters in the dungeon before EOC, and still in EOC, it works effectively against them, however water surge does still come out on top. So only use a poly pore attack style if you do not receded the level of 85 magic.
The next explanation is the inventory, now I have based this on efficiency (if you cant already tell), making this a reasonable trip to live out, now I have not included an aura into this part as I simply do not feel the need that one is required. However if you do not meet the levels of 95 prayer, then I would recommend one. None the less, I have stocked myself in prayer as prayer should always be activated on this task, this means that having prayer pots is essential, especially when the monster is using attacks such as ranged and magic.
The wolpertinger is a debatable item, it only boosts up 7 levels of magic, this means that using extreme magic pots is now better than using a wolpertinger, however not everyone has 91 herblore, but then 92 summoning is also a ridiculous requirement for a magic boost. So replacement of the wolpertinger with an average magic potion would be fine, as long as some sort of boost in in place, then you should be fine. (:
Now onto the equipment set up! Equipment is always a hard decision for those who have the money to spend, however this task does not require any fancy armor of such, but rather an armor that also originates from the depths of the poly pore dungeon. Ganodermic is an amazing set of armor that is easily obtained from the Grand Exchange for a reasonable price, the only down side to the armor is that it is degradable, but thats not to worry for now. The staff I have chosen is a pretty hardcore staff, the chaotic staff is obtained to dungeoneering, and is pretty difficult to obtain, but if you are willing to grind dung' then this item is by far the best item to be using. And whilst on this note, the Arcane Stream Necklace is a must have at this place, the boost of this necklace is insane for 30k tokens, so I would 10/10 recommend this necklace (: The slayer helmet can be replaced with a ganodermic helmet also, but as most people come to Grifolapine for slayer, i have defaulted it onto the equipment.
And to add onto this, a summoning familiar is always advised when going into combat, for instance if you do not have the levels for a wolpertinger, then grab some pots and switch it up for a bunyip, or a unicorn or such. Any sort of boost onto your stats is a boost onto the time and kills you get!
The abilities for the Grifolapine are pretty basic, you can swap them around if you feel that you are not getting the hits you want and such, but this setup worked pretty efficiently for me, and to add, my keybinds are my designed for my own comfort zone, you can feel free to try my way out but you may find that it is too distant for your own style of game play, so if the key binds aren't giving you the vibes, then just switch them up. You may also find that you wont be using some abilities, if so then change them for some defensive abilities to maximize your defence and enhance your damage/defence as such!
The prayers I use are common in all of my guides, mainly because the three combat curses are used for everything that I do, however if you do not have curses, then once again, grab a vampyrism aura and stick on your best magic boost prayer. Although I do not recommend sticking a defensive prayer on, this would just be a waste of prayer and you will either soul split, summoner heal, or aura steal your life points back.
I have added a practical below for those of you who need to see how it's done in a short amount of time, these are always added at the bottom of my guides as an essential to the guide! :D
That concludes this guide on Griflopines (hard work to keep remembering how to spell it D:), im sorry thsis does not go into as much detail as my last guide, however I promise to cram pack my guides with as much information as I possibly can! Thank for viewing and as always, GOOD LUCK MONSTER HUNTING :D
