Grifolapines

This monster is apart of the "Polypore dungeon" posy' that was introduced back in 2012. This monster can be a challenge to take down as it has an effect that allows the Grifolapine to charge at the player, and whilst stand in a one square radius, the players takes disease damage of around 75. This effect ca be counter attacked with an object called "Neem Oil" when used on the Grifolapine it weakens the monster, allowing the player to inflict more damage onto the Grifolapine as well as disabling the Grifolapine natural damage effect.

Please note that the RED OUTLINE is a refferal of HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Also, I will only be using one method shown in this guide, simply because I have only ever used this method and any other way is not as much of a gain, where as this method is decent enough to last a whole trip. This does not mean that you HAVE to stick to the equipment that I show, I only recommend items, this does not mean that I am forcing you to wear the equipment or take the items in anyway.

Now for the requirements for this monster:
  • 70+ Magic
  • 75+ Defence
  • 70+ Constitution
  • 88+ Slayer
  • 92+ Summoning (If choosing to use a wolpertinger)
  • 95+ Prayer
  • 80+ Dungeoneering
Okay, so the only real requirement needed to kill these monsters is 88 Slayer, this is a pretty damn high level to obtain, so this guide will be aimed at the higher levels to be precise.

Now into the details! Grifolapine indeed have a weakness, this weakness is 'Water Spells' meaning that the most damage that the player can deal, is through magic. Because of this weakness, I have chosen both a magic offence as well as a magic defence, this is because Grifolapine  also attack with mostly magic, as well as being weak towards magic, so in theory, they are a danger to themselves (pun), but they also have a ranged attack, now this can be pretty annoying, as they can hit a hefty amount when they want to, making it a constant 'eyes glued to screen' monster.

Now, because they're weakness is magic, I have decided to base this on two things, the first is that if you don't have 85 magic for water surge, then there is another option, and this option is using the infamous poly pore staff to slay down these beasts! The poly pore staff was generally used to kill all the monsters in the dungeon before EOC, and still in EOC, it works effectively against them, however water surge does still come out on top. So only use a poly pore attack style if you do not receded the level of 85 magic.

The next explanation is the inventory, now I have based this on efficiency (if you cant already tell), making this a reasonable trip to live out, now I have not included an aura into this part as I simply do not feel the need that one is required. However if you do not meet the levels of 95 prayer, then I would recommend one. None the less, I have stocked myself in prayer as prayer should always be activated on this task, this means that having prayer pots is essential, especially when the monster is using attacks such as ranged and magic.

The wolpertinger is a debatable item, it only boosts up 7 levels of magic, this means that using extreme magic pots is now better than using a wolpertinger, however not everyone has 91 herblore, but then 92 summoning is also a ridiculous requirement for a magic boost. So replacement of the wolpertinger with an average magic potion would be fine, as long as some sort of boost in in place, then you should be fine. (:

Now onto the equipment set up! Equipment is always a hard decision for those who have the money to spend, however this task does not require any fancy armor of such, but rather an armor that also originates from the depths of the poly pore dungeon. Ganodermic is an amazing set of armor that is easily obtained from the Grand Exchange for a reasonable price, the only down side to the armor is that it is degradable, but thats not to worry for now. The staff I have chosen is a pretty hardcore staff, the chaotic staff is obtained to dungeoneering, and is pretty difficult to obtain, but if you are willing to grind dung' then this item is by far the best item to be using. And whilst on this note, the Arcane Stream Necklace is a must have at this place, the boost of this necklace is insane for 30k tokens, so I would 10/10 recommend this necklace (: The slayer helmet can be replaced with a ganodermic helmet also, but as most people come to Grifolapine  for slayer, i have defaulted it onto the equipment.

And to add onto this, a summoning familiar is always advised when going into combat, for instance if you do not have the levels for a wolpertinger, then grab some pots and switch it up for a bunyip, or a unicorn or such. Any sort of boost onto your stats is a boost onto the time and kills you get!

The abilities for the Grifolapine  are pretty basic, you can swap them around if you feel that you are not getting the hits you want and such, but this setup worked pretty efficiently for me, and to add, my keybinds are my designed for my own comfort zone, you can feel free to try my way out but you may find that it is too distant for your own style of game play, so if the key binds aren't giving you the vibes, then just switch them up. You may also find that you wont be using some abilities, if so then change them for some defensive abilities to maximize your defence and enhance your damage/defence as such!

The prayers I use are common in all of my guides, mainly because the three combat curses are used for everything that I do, however if you do not have curses, then once again, grab a vampyrism aura and stick on your best magic boost prayer. Although I do not recommend sticking a defensive prayer on, this would just be a waste of prayer and you will either soul split, summoner heal, or aura steal your life points back.

I have added a practical below for those of you who need to see how it's done in a short amount of time, these are always added at the bottom of my guides as an essential to the guide! :D

That concludes this guide on Griflopines (hard work to keep remembering how to spell it D:), im sorry thsis does not go into as much detail as my last guide, however I promise to cram pack my guides with as much information as I possibly can! Thank for viewing and as always, GOOD LUCK MONSTER HUNTING :D

Aberrant Spectres

Aberrant Spectres! The infamous slayer task in the 2011 sensation. This task was one of my most hatred filled task's back when i was a wee knipper!

Another quick note is that red outlined pictures is a referral for HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

With that out the way, I will now give my recommendations to those of you who are wondering what levels you should start kill these at:

  • 70+ Attack (if using melee)
  • 70+ Strength (if using melee)
  • 70+ Defence
  • 65+ Ranged
  • 70+ Constitution
  • 95+ Prayer (if using Soul Split)

Okay, so to kick this guide off I will just add that you can not go near these guys without having a nose peg, to refresh your memory of what a nose peg looks like and how much they are, I have added a picture below this text.

Aberrant Spectre require 60 slayer to be able to inflict any damage onto them. They are also a common task, so if you really cant stand them, then you should probably just add the to the 'permanent cancel task' list.
So if you have pass the meetings of slayer requirements, then we can move on to another situation, Equipment! Okay so the Evolution Of Combat brought with it some key essentials that one (you) must know in order to effectively use combat, they introduced new weaknesses for monsters, however these are not the only effective way to kill a monster, there will be a chance to see this theory in practical later on in the guide. As a FYI the weakness for Aberrant Spectres is Thrown.

Next will be the Inventory & Summoning familiar set up, now this is probably one of the most important stages when deciding what you are going to be killing, any item spaces should be strategical, and not because you have nothing to fill them with and you'r to lazy to stop by the Grand Exchange. I will show two set up's that are effective against these monsters, as I often say; you DO NOT have to exactly stick to what i recommend, however those items outlined in RED are highly recommended!

The first method shown is a power-killing inventory set-up, and is aimed at getting more kills per hour rather than 'camping' the monster in order to gain money/rares. This option is often more common nowadays, and is a lot faster that efficiency. This method also includes pack yak scrolls, meaning that the player is able to bank items, leading to profit as well as longer trips, as the player does not have to bank to store the profitable drops that he/she receives.

The second method to killing these is based at a lower budget, making this a total profit gain for those who choose this method, however this method will also be the least effective, although you can alter the equipment to suite yourself, the foundries of this method are based on a lower income rate.

Lastly, there is a total prayer and profit gain, this method is focused on using prayer and melee, however it also adds a hints of profit to the situation, pack scrolls are once again used to bank any herbs/seeds/rare drops table items that the player receives during the task, meaning less bank trips!

So the equipment i have set up in the below picture is aimed at lower levels, noting as always that equipment can be altered to fit your own characters levels and comfort ability. Aberrant Spectres use magic attacks, making is obvious that magic defence is needed, however many player who have low defence commonly need prayer protection to save their life, so a prayer bonus and magic defence layout is in need for this. Please note that sagaie's are not included into the ammunition effect that the Ava's devices offer, however the devices do give a hand ranged bonus!

Dual Dragon Darts would probably be most effective on this slayer task, but that would also make this task extremely expensive and in order to kill 183 or so Aberrant Spectres with Dragon Darts would make it a mortgage decision (;

Aberrant Spectres are also an undead creature, making the Salve Amulet(e) a great item to have on you when killing these monsters as it increases the players Attack & Strength by 20% when killing undead. The amulet can be obtained from 'The Lair Of Tarn Razorlor miniquest'.

Next is the medium level set-up, this is devised to characters that have medium stats, not characters who are genuinely poorer and classed as lower level because of their wealth. The secondary can be switched for rune darts/throwing axe, but as many people do not wish to fork out extra money for slight damage boosts, it is uncommon, none the less I would still recommend some sort of secondary! This set up also includes a cannon setup, so prayer is key for this method as you will still need to restore your health in some way. (presuming that you are on curses.)

Finally it is the higher level prayer set up, as melee bonus is not needed at such a monster as the defence of the Spectre is poor compared to the average weapon that is used for level 140's+. By no means do you have to have drygores to kill Aberrant Spectres, however if you have the spare money then one' (you) should feel free to use anything you want, as always you can alter any of the items that i have equipped and recommend in these guides.

Please note the prayer bonus in both these images as it makes an insane difference to the final result of how long you can last and how many kills you can average per trip. If you have chosen the prayer route, then you will need to know a few tips & tricks, firstly DO NOT leave Soul Split on through out the whole fight, nor do you leave it on whilst full constitution, this is an utter waste of prayer points and will make the trip less effective. The prayer book that I would recommend is Curses, this is because if you do not have a life steal aura, then Soul Split is a great little prayer to flick when running low on constitution.

You will not need any abilities for this monster as monumentum works well enough against this monster when using both melee and ranged, making this task a semi-relax able task. (:

So hopefully you decided on one of the three methods that I supplied in this guide, below is a quick practical on how the outcome of two of these methods should come out, and with that said, GOOD LUCK MONSTER HUNTING!

Mithril Dragon

Okay so these bad boys have always been a challenge for most players that are unfortunate enough to receive them as a task. Hard hitting, tank like skin and attacks that cream through the basic defences, these guys can be a challenge to any decent Runescaper.

Okay, so to start with, the requirements that I would recommend:

  • 90+ Magic
  • 90+ Defence
  • 90+ Constitution
  • 85+ Dungeoneering (if using chaotic weapons)
Just to quickly add, Mithril Dragons are weak to 'Earth' spells, therefore making this a offensive magic setup. They use all three types of combat styles, making it impossible to have a effective defence against them, so making due with the equipment i have shown is my best recommendation for all levels.

Now for the gear, this has been setup for a specific strength for magic defence, this means that the character is weak to ranged, but prayers and a aura should see to that later. I have also chosen a High hitting magic staff as it proves more effective than wands are dragons. I have added two pictures of the inventory to the post as a choice of efficiency over profit or vice versa.
Basic setup for the dragons.

Efficiency Inventory
  • Prayer renewal flask (6) x4
  • Prayer potion flask (6) x9
  • Extreme Magic potion x2
  • Extreme Defence potion x2
  • Super Anti Fire potion x2
  • Air runes x5000+
  • Earth runes x5000+
  • Pack Yak/Unicorn Stallion with suitable scrolls
  • 3 food of any choice (heals over 1000 would be decent)
Profitable Inventory

Of course you can change any of the items that I am using to suite your own abilities and such, but for now lets stick to the basics. The aura's i am using in the character setup is 'Vampyrism' this aura allows the player to restore 5% of any damage you deal, the only alternative I would suggest to this aura would be penance, which restores a  quarter of the damage you receive and adds it onto your prayer points. The 5 potion that are in the inventory on both pictures are as following:

Now onto the fun part! Mithril dragons are level 160 and can pack a punch to those who aren't equipped with sufficient gear, so there are a few ways of mauling these dragons down! So for killing higher leveled opponents, it is advisable to skip using monumentum and to go hardcore with abilities.

So I have devised an ability bar that should be of some use to players that are experienced. Once again this can be adapted to suit your own needs, or simple be a structure to a setup you are looking to create yourself.

So once you are set, you can make your way into the dungeon that can be accessed by using the fairy code: B-J-Q

There's not much to cover on prayer, but for a trip worth going on then you will most likely want to have the following set. Please note that the prayer book I am on is obtained after a series of difficult quest that once completed grant the user to prayers that require a higher level to use.

Once finally at the dragons lair, sip your potions, activate your aura's and active you quick prayers, then begin to use the abilities from 1 - 6 as these are you basic abilities that give you adrenaline,

Other than a slayer task, the only reason people hunt mithril dragons, is because they seek either chewed bones, or a dragon full helmet drop. The dragon full helmet is one of the hardest drops to receive in game as it can only be obtained by either chewed bones (drop from mithril dragons) or a very rare drop from mithril dragons as an item form. This gives mithril dragons their right to be kick ass and hit frenzy.

If you wish to see the practical side of this method, then please watch the short video below.

That is all I am going to cover in this topic, so have fun slaying and good luck dragon hunting! :D

Hey all!
To start this blog off I will introduce myself to you all. My names Josh, im 17 and i am currently employed. In my spare time I like to play games (ALOT) so I decided to make myself a blog site that I can share my experience with you all and give my personal hints and tips to you guys. I know that reading is pretty retro for many games and other would rather listen to someone talk on about games, but for now, im going to keep myself pretty basic and just let myself go through the keyboard (;

In terms of games and what genre I like, it's pretty much down to the RPG's and shooters, pretty boring for you indie fans, im sorry ): But for all you who are into games such as Runescape, World of Warcarft, Dota 2, League of legends, Neverwinter, Battlefield and such, then I may just be your entertained for this evening (hopefully longer).

Now, to make the structure clear for you all, I will be switching to vlogs on games when I get a sufficient amount of followers/fans that i (hopefully) entertain, this is because it is a personal dream of mine to have admirers that are interested in my love for games (:

So that is pretty much the introduction that I will be giving you guys for now, and I hope that you enjoy your visit to my page :D
